We are School for Engineering, providing technical tutorials and online courses to make you an expert on a wide range of Engineering topics, such as Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Data Science & Machine Learning, and general Software and Programming concepts.

Our website www.schoolforengineering.com (Website) provides services through our company, School for Engineering Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 14194538) with a Registered Office at 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX (we / us / our).

This privacy policy covers how we process your personal data if you use our Website or order any services. In these instances, we are the controller of your personal data (which means we decide what information we collect and how it is used).

We do not collect Sensitive Data about you. Sensitive data refers to data that includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health and genetic and biometric data.

4. How our website uses Cookies

This website uses small text files, called cookies, which are stored on your device when you access and use certain features of our website. There are different types of cookies, such as those which are necessary which help the Website run properly. We do not need your consent for necessary cookies. For other types of cookies, such those that allow us to understand how visitors use our website (performance cookies), those which provide metrics on how users interact with the website such as number of visitors (analytics cookies) and advertise which help tailor adverts to you (marketing cookies). 

As cookies are unique, we can use them to distinguish you from other users for the purposes described above, however the analytical cookies are configured so that your IP address is anonymised. If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for no more than 24 hours. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If we invite you to edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

6. Who we share your personal data with

  • Those providing technical and business-related services to us (including external consultants and freelancers) only as required.
  • Regulatory authorities (if required).
  • Our mailing list (coming soon) is not shared with a third party but is maintained on self-hosted Mautic. Emails are sent using Amazon SES (simple email service). Amazon’s SES privacy policy is

7. How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

8. What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

9. Where we store or send your data

  • We store company information (including your personal data) in servers located in the United Kingdom (through our hosting provider).
  • (To follow) Our email list is administered via a self-hosted Mautic installation, located in the UK; outgoing mailings will be handled by Amazon SES (simple email service) via London
  • Our website analytics information is self-hosted via Matomo Analytics, located in the UK.
  • We do not currently hold any personal information outside the UK. We will only transfer information outside of the UK or EU where we have a valid legal mechanism in place (e.g. by using contracts approved by the European Commission or UK Secretary of State).

10. Newsletters and Email Lists

If you have consented to join any of our email lists (either via signing up to a newsletter, or opting to receive a downloadable asset such as a cheatsheet. You can opt out of the relevant list at any time by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link in any email we send you for that list.

Opting out of these newsletters will not affect our processing of your personal data in relation to any order you have with us and where we are required to use your personal data to fulfil that order or provide you with certain information. 

11. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These third party websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy is effective from 1st July 2022. We may make changes to this privacy policy to reflect any changes to our privacy practices in accordance with changes to legislation, best practices or website enhancements.
